Russia tied to Iraq's missing arms - The Washington Times: Nation/Politics - October 28, 2004: "Defense officials said the Russians can provide information on what happened to the Iraqi weapons and explosives that were transported out of the country. Officials believe the Russians also can explain what happened to Iraq's weapons of mass destruction programs.
Whether planned or not, this story may well work to Bush's advantage before next Tuesday. Most people are skipping over this paragraph about the Russians providing information. There have been signs of a change of the Russian heart. The reason almost certainly is Beslan. There have been other terrorist acts in Russia in the past, but the horror of this one exceeded all of the others.
Putin wants Bush to win. Why? Bush understands the war on terror, he is a known entity and he is dependable. Kerry is none of those things.
In addition, by various actions Bush has made it clear that repentance and redemption are possible even for the people who were double dealing with Saddam, IF and its a big IF, they provide material assistance in the war on terror.
I don't think this last parapgraph in the story is a throwaway.
